Stonefields Rockfall Mesh Installation

Steep volcanic slopes above a major Auckland residential development needed securing against rockfall onto homes and roads below. Geo Mana installed 19,000m² of high-strength rockfall mesh, anchored with rock bolts and cable systems, delivered entirely by rope access and Elevated Work Platforms where machines couldn't reach. Working around occupied homes and an active construction programme, the team kept safe zones in place throughout and finished on programme — eliminating the rockfall risk and supporting Stonefields' continued growth.

Riddell Road Slope Stabilisation

A foreshore cliff in Glendowie needed stabilising above an existing palisade retaining wall — tight access, undulating ground, and drilling angles that had to thread past the wall's elements. Geo Mana delivered self-drilling soil nails, tensioned MacMat R mesh fixed cleanly into the wall, and horizontal drainage, all from rope access. 1,296.5m of drilling, ~750m² of mesh, 150+ galvanised pins — and every proof-load test passed on the first attempt.

Rotorua Retaining Wall Ground Anchors

Before a Rotorua retaining wall could be built, its tieback ground anchors had to be installed and proof-tested with verified capacity for consent. Geo Mana installed nine 10.0m Platypus Bat Anchors with a 5-tonne excavator, working through variable ground to refusal at 9.5m to 11m, then proof-tested every anchor to the 24 kN design load with purpose-built hydraulic equipment. The full scope was delivered in a single day with a clean QA record, keeping the wall programme on track.

Opotiki Slope Anchor Installation

A slip-damaged slope in the Waioweka Gorge near Opotiki had no road access — the work face sat at roughly 140m elevation, reached by a 180m climb through bush and a 40m abseil. Our four-person rope access crew flew in heavy gear by helicopter, then drilled, grouted, and shear-loaded eight soil nail anchors in two clusters, giving Tough Terrain's spider excavator the winch points it needed to descale the slope. Delivered in two weeks under an NZTA contract.

Ground Condition Assessment / Rope Access

Vanuatu Ground Condition Reporting

Three Port Vila properties needed independent ground condition assessments, delivered as a FIFO subcontract to Downer NZ under the MFAT Pacific Project. Our two-person crew used rope access, drone photography, and direct measurement to map slope profiles across all three sites in extreme tropical conditions, producing formal reports with Gibb Ritchie Geotechnical Engineers. All three reports landed on time within a six-day window — our first overseas job, with local workers upskilled along the way.

Wero Climb Adventure Structure

When Wero Whitewater Park built a 16-metre, three-level climbing structure with 78 elements, large timber obstacles had to be secured at height between steel frames where standard access wasn't possible. Working under Clyde Services alongside the German KristallTurm team, our two-person rope access crew combined crane lifts and rigging to install every obstacle safely over three weeks. The facility opened in July 2025 as New Zealand's tallest multi-level climbing course — and proved Geo Mana delivers structural installation at height.
